Priority and non-priority postal correspondence items

As of the 1st of September 2007, Lithuania Post's customers can choose the way of sending of postal correspondence items to addressees in Lithuania. All postal correspondence items, as the ones sent abroad, are now classified into priority and non-priority items.

There are differences in price and delivery times of priority and non-priority postal correspondence items.

Priority postal correspondence items sent in Lithuania bear a label "Prioritaire. Pirmenybinė". When buying postage stamps for the priority postal correspondence item, customers have to ask for the labels "Prioritaire. Pirmenybinė" of a blue colour. The both a postage stamp and label must be affixed to the item. The label is to be affixed on the upper left corner of the item's front side or under the sender's address. Envelops having the mark "Prioritaire. Pirmenybinė" printed on them are available at post offices as well. In such cases an additional label is not needed.

We would like to draw your attention to the fact that the time of the item's deposit is very important. Residents and business clients, willing to send priority postal correspondence items, are strongly recommended to submit them for posting until the time indicated at post offices or on post boxes. Priority postal correspondence items deposited later than the time indicated will be sent the next post office's working day.

Postal correspondence items include letters, postcards, aerogrammes, literature for the blind, printed papers and small packets, registered and insured postal items.

The quality standards for the delivery of items within Lithuania can be found here, and the ones for items sent between the European Union member countries are presented here.
