Lithuania first took part in Olympic competition as a nation in Paris in 1924.
In total Lithuania has participated in 4 Summer and 5 Winter Olympics. At the XXVIII Olympiad in the Greek capital Athens (August 13-29, 2004), Lithuania will send over 60 athletes to compete in 13 events. This includes the Men's Basketball team as well as the country's numerous contingent in Track and Field, Swimming and Cycling.
